Mega Thunderbow Revealed, to be released with Slingfire in Fall ’14.

New blasters are coming for this fall, as Hasbro unveils a new Mega blaster, the Thunderbow. I must say,it looks pretty impressive, given the fact that you don’t have to reload after every shot.Five aligned mega darts make it pretty big though, but the 100 ft ranges are getting some attention.

The official description from Hasbro –

NERF N-STRIKE MEGA THUNDERBOW Toy
(Ages 8 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $39.99/Available: Fall 14)
Awesome NERF MEGA performance transitions from blaster to bow with the addition of the N-STRIKE MEGA THUNDERBOW toy. The bow’s dynamic arms and traditional pull back system can fire five NERF MEGA whistler darts in a row up to an amazing 100 feet. Includes 10 MEGA Whistler darts and holds up to five NERF MEGA darts at a time. Available at most major retailers nationwide and HasbroToyshop.com

How it fires is open to speculation, because the bowstring isn’t connected to the plunger, and there is no trigger to be seen around,so i think that there is an internal trigger, which fires off the plunger when enough force is built on pulling the bowstring.Anyway, thats my theory. It will perhaps appear in the London Toy Fair this January. It looks like it uses the same intelligent air flow like the Crossfire bow.

Zombiestrike Slingfire Revealed,to come out by Fall ’14.

After weeks of speculation,Hasbro announced this new Zombiestrike blaster to various NIC blogs.Undoubtedly, this blaster looks hands-down cool. When we least expect it,Hasbro pops up a design so innovative,it sends us reeling back in amazement.

The official product description is as follows,

NERF ZOMBIE STRIKE SLINGFIRE Blaster
(Ages 8 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $29.99/Available: Fall 14)
Zombie hordes are no match for the ZOMBIE STRIKE SLINGFIRE blaster! The blaster’s lever-action allows for quicker reloads on the run and DIY-style designs lend an authentic feel to any NERF zombie attack. Blaster comes complete with one six dart clip and six ZOMBIE STRIKE darts which can be fired up to 75 feet. Features the NERF Tactical Rail System customizable with NERF N-STRIKE scopes and accessories, each sold separately. Available at most major retailers nationwide and HasbroToyShop.com.

The lever action looks very promising,as nerf puts it,”The blaster’s lever-action allows for quicker reloads on the run”. Also,i don’t see a clip release switch, which might mean that the lever is capable of discharging the clip when it is empty(using the dart sensor like that in the stryfe, perhaps). Furthermore, the DIY look gives it an improvised finish, making it look like a cobbled up blaster. But one thing that i am looking out for the most  is slam-fire.It will be some serious fun to go ‘wild-west’ in your house, but how will you hold down the trigger when you are working with the lever? I hope it has a direct plunger inside, which will give us a 75 ft range.

Nerf has a lot to explain, for come the 21st of January, the London Toy Fair will reveal more about blasters known and unknown.

N-Strike Elite Retaliator Review

The N-Strike Elite Retaliator, launched in August 2012, is the successor to the 2008 N-Strike Recon CS-6.The Retaliator was released as the first Elite blaster along with Rampage and Hail-Fire.

The Recon was praised for its modular nature, but was notorious for poor ranges and accuracy. The Retaliator, basically a reshell, features new internals equipped with a direct plunger, giving it greater range and accuracy than its predecessor. It comes with a repainted barrel attachment,a new and unseen stock,an assault grip and a twelve dart clip.It has 3 tactical rails, one on the slide and two on the barrel attachment.A small flip-open jam door is located under the slide, with the clip release button present on both the sides of the blaster. There is also an iron sight on the barrel attachment.

Looks wise,it resembles a modern carbine. It has less aesthetics and more functionality, and tends to be a little heavy. It is not exactly thin, but its robust profile gives it a meaty look.

Performance wise,it tends to prove itself as more of a precise blaster than a fast firing one. Attaching the barrel reduces the ranges but increases the accuracy. It constantly hits 55-60 ft,and is accurate upto 45 ft. The RoF is very less, since it is completely manually cycled, and fires at almost 1.2 darts/sec.It also jams sometimes, like getting the slide stuck back, ore the dart jammed in the breech. The breech will completely destroy the dart if it gets stuck. The trigger is a little unresponsive.

To use the Retaliator, pull the slide back, load a twelve dart clip and push the slide forward to prime. To clear a jam, pull back the slide and open the jam door to remove any darts.

The blaster brings an intimidating factor in a battle and even though it falls short in RoF,it makes up in accuracy. At Rs. 1499,it is yet another blaster that delivers a bang for the buck.

N-Strike Elite Alpha Trooper CS-12 Review

The Elite Alpha Trooper CS-12 (aka EAT), is one of the most sought after blasters today. The original alpha trooper was quite a success, and it was quite a surprise when its elite counterpart popped up at the Powerplay Tournament at Singapore.

The EAT is the successor of the 2010 N-Strike Alpha Trooper CS-18.It features a repainted exterior, and a highly tuned up internal, featuring a more powerful direct plunger than the earlier reverse plunger used in the original AT.It now comes with a 12-dart clip,as opposed to the 18-dart drum that came with the AT.It features a stock attachment point,a small tactical rail behind the jam door, and a small iron sight on the top of the priming handle. The clip release button is present on both the sides of the blaster.

It looks really good with the Elite paintjob, and even though it looks heavy,it is quite lightweight and easy to use.The slide is easy to use,and i felt no need for the jam door,as the blaster rarely jams.

Performance wise,it is one of the best blasters out there. The range of 75 ft is achieved when the blaster is angled, but it constantly reaches ranges of 60-65 ft.The slam fire mode provides a massive rate of fire(RoF)  of more than 4 darts/sec.The trigger is very sensitive, and darts fly out at almost 60-70 feet/sec.

Using the EAT is quite simple.Push the handle back, load a clip, push the handle forward, and fire. For slam firing, hold down the trigger, and repeatedly pump the trigger to let out a barrage of darts.
